The Holtville Bulldogs lost against the Elmore County Panthers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Holtville fell 28-21 to Elmore County. It was the first time this season that Holtville let down their fans at home.
Although Holtville took the loss, they still got scores from Elijah Headley, Cedrick Croskey, and Daishaun Zeigler.
Elmore County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cade Everson out in front who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Everson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Cj Wilkes was another key contributor, rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Holtville to a paltry 167 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Elmore County's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Connor Pike and Hunter Denham who racked up four sacks between them.
Holtville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Elmore County, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Holtville will square off against Tallassee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tallassee is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Elmore County, they will be playing at home against Jemison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jemison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Elmore County is ranked 105th).
