It was a good run, but the Oaks The Mighty Oaks unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Victory Christian Academy 57-53. The matchup was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Oaks was outscored by Victory Christian Academy in the second.
Oaks' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Allen, who scored 27 points. The game was Allen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elisha Hallmark, who scored 16 points.
Victory Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Colton Sealy, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Myrick, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Oaks' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-2. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oaks is on the road again on Monday and play against Eastwood Christian at 12:00 p.m. on December 11th. Eastwood Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Oaks is ranked 158th). As for Victory Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against First Assembly Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
