The Mammoth Huskies had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 77-23 win over Trona on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-10.
Mammoth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Toomey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Mammoth's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Trona, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Mammoth will be playing at home against Lone Pine at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Trona, they will head out on the road to face off against Mammoth at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
