On Friday, the Lake Worth Trojans faced Sagemont in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lake Worth fell 62-54 to Sagemont. Lake Worth was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sagemont apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Sagemont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Liburd, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Thomas, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Lake Worth has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. As for Sagemont, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-6.
Lake Worth will take on Suncoast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sagemont, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gulliver Prep at 7:00 p.m. Gulliver Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Sagemont likes a good challenge.
