The Leake Central Gators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Leake County and snuck past 67-64. The victory was just what Leake Central needed coming off of a 50-28 defeat in their prior contest.
Despite the loss, Leake County saw an underclassman step up: Treylon Ricks scored 18 points. The matchup was Ricks' tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tay Fortune, who scored 13 points.
Leake Central's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Leake County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Leake Central will head out on the road to face off against Morton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Leake County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sebastopol at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th.
