Wakulla is a perfect 5-0 against Bishop Kenny since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Wakulla is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Suwannee 3-1. That's two games straight that the War Eagles have won by exactly two runs.
Charley Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cylie Long, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Parker Stubbs was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kenny made easy work of Wolfson on Thursday and carried off a 16-1 win. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly 15 runs.
Sophia Mulkey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mulkey was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bishop Kenny let Abby Jackson and Ava Farnham run wild. Jackson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Farnham went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Jackson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bizzarri, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Bishop Kenny always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Kenny and bumps their season record up to 11-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Wakulla, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4-1.
Everything went Wakulla's way against Bishop Kenny in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, as Wakulla made off with a 15-9 win. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
