Orcutt Academy took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Pioneer Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Panthers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since May 17, 2024.

Orcutt Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pioneer Valley, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6.

Coming up, Orcutt Academy will head out to square off against Cabrillo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pioneer Valley, they will welcome Clovis East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
