Brunswick Academy is 8-2 against Amelia Academy since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will welcome the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Brunswick Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Life Christian Academy hit Brunswick Academy with a six-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Eagles, falling 10-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Nathan Wells made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Amelia Academy entered their tilt with Kenston Forest on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Kavaliers with a sharp 13-4 victory. Considering the Patriots have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Aiden Long was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Amelia Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 3-5 otherwise. Long was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Kaivin Dowell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Carson Dietz was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Amelia Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Brunswick Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Amelia Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brunswick Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Amelia Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Brunswick Academy skirted past Amelia Academy 2-1 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
