The Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Crossroads Christian Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cape Fear Christian Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Cape Fear Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Lee Christian on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Cape Fear Christian Academy is 6-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cooper Davis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Conner Parrish was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.
Cape Fear Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Crossroads Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They skirted past North Hills Christian 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colts have posted since February 28th.
Bobby Bobbitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cody Paschall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Adcock, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Cape Fear Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Crossroads Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cape Fear Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crossroads Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cape Fear Christian Academy came up short against Crossroads Christian in their previous meeting back in April, falling 11-7. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
