Baseball Game Preview: Taconic Hills Titans vs. Red Hook Raiders

The Taconic Hills Titans will take on the Red Hook Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Taconic Hills is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Taconic Hills' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Albany with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Francis Conners-Schmid made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Super, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Mulrein, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

New Paltz hit Red Hook with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders fell 7-4 to the Huguenots. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Huguenots since on Friday.

Taconic Hills pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Red Hook, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Taconic Hills beat Red Hook 11-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
