Baseball Recap: Goliad Has No Trouble Against East Bernard

Goliad's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They put the hurt on the East Bernard Brahmas with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Coy Stange was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Keelan Coley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Goliad's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for East Bernard, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 19-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goliad will head out to challenge Poth at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Bernard, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hitchcock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Brahmas are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
