Among those leading the charge was Donte Truss, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 141 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nequan Harris was in the mix as well, providing Independence with three touchdowns.
Independence's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Walnut Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Independence will be playing in front of their home fans against Watkins Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Watkins Memorial is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Walnut Ridge, they will take on Canal Winchester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canal Winchester presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Walnut Ridge in Ohio (Canal Winchester is ranked 56th, while Walnut Ridge is ranked 494th).
