In what's become a running theme this season, the Ponderosa Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 67-29 win over Evergreen on the road. Given Ponderosa's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Evergreen is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carson Keach was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Miskovic, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Evergreen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hayden Riddle. Despite the final result, he scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Riddle grabbed two or more steals.
Ponderosa's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Evergreen, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa and Regis Jesuit will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Regis Jesuit is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Evergreen, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Alameda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
