The Thomasville Bulldogs struggled with assists on Friday (the Monroe Golden Tornadoes had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Thomasville had to suffer through a rough 64-32 loss at the hands of the Golden Tornadoes. Thomasville has not had much luck with the Golden Tornadoes recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jabria Richardson, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Rhaniya Wilson, who scored four points.
Monroe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kie'Aundria Acree led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Acree is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mckinzy, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Thomasville dropped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Monroe, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomasville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. Crisp County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Monroe, they will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dougherty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 100th).
