Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Parklane Academy walked away with it. They never let the Starkville Academy Volunteers get on the board and left with a 26-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won nine games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Parklane Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Hughes, who threw for 149 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. What's more, Hughes racked up 18 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Tanner Kyzar was another key rusher, rushing for 114 yards and one score.
The win was the third in a row for Parklane Academy, bringing their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.7 points over those games. As for Starkville Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
