Durant (Plant City, Fla.) beat Chamberlain (Tampa, Fla.) 49-0 after a strong game from
Jamarlon Hamilton, who rushed for four touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the senior now has 10 touchdowns on the season.
The lead that the Cougars took on a rushing touchdown with 9:00 left in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
A 30-point second quarter helped Durant secure the big victory. DHS scored on a
Trey Vandergrift touchdown pass to
Paxton Sims, a touchdown run by Hamilton, a touchdown run and a Hamilton touchdown run in the quarter.
The Plant City school came into the game allowing 5.2 points per game. The Chiefs' zero points were well below their season average of 14.8 per game.
A 50-29 Durant victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Chamberlain defeated Freedom 31-16 last week.
In a 7A District 8 game next week Durant (6-0) takes on Newsome, and Chamberlain (2-4) will go up against Wiregrass Ranch in a 7A District 7 game.
