After flying high against the iMater Charter Knights on Monday, the LaSalle Royal Lions came back down to earth. LaSalle took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders on Tuesday. LaSalle has not had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, LaSalle saw an underclassman step up: Alexandra Gonzalez casar scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Gonzalez casar has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Rachael Restrepo was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Gulliver Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikayla Brown, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Allison Podvin, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
LaSalle's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Gulliver Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LaSalle will face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulliver Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop McCarthy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Raiders are ranked 183rd).
