Northgate moved up to 273 from 331 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Diablo Valley. The Broncos climbed the ranks as a result of beating Mt. Diablo 64-0.
Clayton Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating College Park, 49-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Eagles.
Concord's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mitchell Daniels threw for 175 and one touchdown and Alex Bates had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Olito Thompson chipped in 306 yards. Jacob Daynes helped Concord's passing attack out by catching four balls for 52 yards.
The Minutemen's Wyatt Marrow and Daynes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Marrow has thrown for 1083 yards this season, while Daynes, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 26 catches for 398 yards. Joe Protheroe from Clayton Valley leads the league in rushing with 1560 yards.
Two of the top units in Diablo Valley will face off this week when Tim Murphy's team takes on Concord. The Eagles' offense has racked up 383 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Brian Hamilton's team has allowed only 78 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Clayton Valley takes on the Minutemen. The Eagles are currently in third, while Concord is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Clayton Valley and the Minutemen face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Eagles comes in having scored 383 this season, while Concord has scored 284. Clayton Valley scored 49 points last week as it topped the Falcons.
Northgate took down the Red Devils 64-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
