North Valleys is a perfect 9-0 against Lowry since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will face off against the Buckaroos at 11:00 a.m. North Valleys is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
North Valleys came out on top against South Tahoe on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Panthers blew past the Vikings 7-1. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Caden Birch was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Anderline, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lowry had no problem doing just that on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 11-10.
Erick Valencia and Zaq Growcock did most of the damage at the plate: Valencia went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Growcock went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Valencia has become a key player for Lowry: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Connor Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
North Valleys' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lowry, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-14.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Valleys hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Valleys beat Lowry 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
