The Madison Trojans waltzed into their match Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 58-47 victory over Astoria/VIT.
Despite the loss, Astoria/VIT had strong showings from Kaden Foglesong, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Ben Sherrod, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sherrod scored a full 29.8% of Astoria/VIT's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Little, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
Madison is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Astoria/VIT, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will take on Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lovejoy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Astoria/VIT and Greenview will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
