1A Yadkin Valley recap Oct. 16, 2012
Albemarle extended the longest winning streak in 1A Yadkin Valley this week by beating East Montgomery, 42-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
South Stanly took down North Moore 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Albemarle's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Deon Christian threw for 173 and two touchdowns and Timmie White had 92 yards receiving. On the ground Kevin McKinney chipped in 150 yards. Alvin Currie helped Albemarle's passing attack out by catching four balls for 48 yards.
Albemarle's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Christian has thrown for 1081 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while White has 18 catches for 347 yards. McKinney leads the league in rushing with 976 yards.
McKinney of the Danny Akins' team is only 24 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Rowan takes on West Montgomery. As it stands, the Cavaliers are in third, while the Warriors are in fourth.
The Rowdy Rebel Bulls led 1A Yadkin Valley in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on North Moore.
