The Mount Abram Roadrunners will square off against the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mount Abram comes in on three and Old Orchard Beach on four.
Mount Abram is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sacopee Valley a 6-0 shutout. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Logan Dube, who gave up just two hits to keep Sacopee Valley off the board. Dube has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ash Rollins was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Longley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Madison on Thursday.
Trot Moody made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Old Orchard Beach is undefeated when Moody allows three or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Moody was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wesley Gallant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Old Orchard Beach: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Colby Salamacha was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Mount Abram's record is now 13-4. As for Old Orchard Beach, their record now sits at 10-5.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mount Abram has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Old Orchard Beach struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mount Abram came out on top in a nail-biter against Old Orchard Beach in their previous meeting back in May, sneaking past 14-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roadrunners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
