Basketball Recap: Pathway Christian Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pathway Christian). They came out on top against the Morning Star Academy Mustangs by a score of 58-49 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-40 back in December of 2024.

Pathway Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Denver Nelson, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and three steals. Nelson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Ryker Miller was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Pathway Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morning Star Academy only posted two assists.

Loss or not, Morning Star Academy got some senior leadership from Isaac Yowell and Joshua Brady. Yowell went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points, while Brady went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brady has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Martin, who posted six points.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Pathway Christian, bringing their record for this year to 5-4. As for Morning Star Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pathway Christian Panthers duke it out with the Galesburg Christian Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morning Star Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-50 loss against Unity Christian on the 9th.
