This season hasn't been kind to the Salem Generals, who are still winless after their 17th contest. They had to suffer through a rough 61-27 loss at the hands of Lake George. Salem was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.
Salem's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Harrington, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Harrington is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games he's played. Blaise Barrett was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Salem struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Jack Clark had a dynamite game for Lake George, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clark has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Welch, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Salem dropped their record down to 0-17 with that defeat, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lake George, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will challenge the Tanagers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake George, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Golden Horde at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Granville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.
