The Lanier Poets lost against the Wetumpka Indians back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Lanier fell 20-12 to Wetumpka. It was the first time this season that Lanier let down their fans at home.
Wetumpka had a senior duo take command as Nate Rogers rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry and Jamarion Thrasher gained 188 total yards and a touchdown. Thrasher's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Lanier's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wetumpka, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Lanier will head out on the road to face off against Vigor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wetumpka, they will look to defend their home field on November 3rd against Central of Clay County at 7:00 p.m.
