2A/1A Conference 17 recap November 5, 2013
Clinton extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Conference 17 this week by beating Trask, 41-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Dark Horses.
Midway and West Bladen played the most contested game in the league this week, with Midway eventually emerging with a 24-19 victory.
Cameron Carr provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Titans fell to Clinton. Carr's favorite target this week was Michael Stroman, who caught 2 passes for 39 yards.
Dylan Kraft and Carr gave Trask a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Kraft threw for 50 yards and 1 touchdown, while Carr ran for 174 yards. Kraft also contributed to the rushing game with 20 yards on the ground.
The Knights' Colby Lewis and Malcolm Vaught have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lewis has thrown for 499 yards this season, while Vaught has 9 catches for 160 yards. Union's Dezmond Faison leads the league in rushing yards with 1,457.
An important game coming up in 2A/1A Conference 17 this week will be when Bob Lewis' team takes on Wallace-Rose Hill. The Dark Horses are currently in third, while the Bulldogs are in first.
Wallace-Rose Hill took down Pender 71-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alex Lisane ran for 43 yards and caught 1 pass for 39 yards during the win.
