If the El Paso Tigers were riding high off their 65-18 takedown of the Jefferson Silver Foxes last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. El Paso took a serious blow against Burges on Friday, falling 61-27. El Paso was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-5.
When it comes to explaining why El Paso lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amaris Ambriz. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with four steals. Ambriz hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Thomas, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
El Paso's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Burges, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
El Paso will be playing at home against Chapin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burges' road trip will continue as they head out to face Andress at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Andress will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 804th, while Burges is ranked 156th).
