Glenn is 0-7 against Kankakee Valley since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Falcons will face off against the Kougars at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glenn took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against South Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Satellites 4-3 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
McKenzie Timm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miah Lichtenbarger, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Kiara Meadway, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Kouts. The win continues a trend for the Kougars in their matchups with the Mustangs & Fillies: they've now won five in a row.
Jessica Beauchamp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kankakee Valley let Madalynn Hemphill and Julia Mahmet run wild. Hemphill went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Mahmet went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Mahmet has posted since back in April of 2024. Danielle Gidley was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Kankakee Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kouts only posted an OBP of .167.
Glenn suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Kankakee Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
