Softball Recap: Xavier College Prep Wins Going Away Against Desert Ridge

Xavier College Prep had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Desert Ridge on Wednesday. The Gators were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Jaguars. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Angie Falls was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Falls was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Xavier College Prep got a massive performance out of Sydney Root, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Latvaaho, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Xavier College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Ridge only posted a batting average of .130.

Xavier College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12-1.

Xavier College Prep has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Red Mountain on the 17th. As for Desert Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-0 defeat against Highland on the 16th.
