The Johnson Atomsmashers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 56-43 win over New Hampstead. For Johnson, this counts as revenge for the 48-42 loss New Hampstead walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amayah Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bryahnna Patton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals.
Johnson's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for New Hampstead, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Johnson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Portal at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th.
