Basketball Recap: Jd Taylor and Keegen Bryant Secure Win for Gilmer

Gilmer hadn't done well against LaFayette recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Gilmer Bobcats walked away with a 66-57 victory over the LaFayette Ramblers. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 78-42 win the Ramblers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Leading Gilmer to victory were Keegen Bryant and Jd Taylor. Bryant went 7 for 14 on his way to 26 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Taylor dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Farmer, who posted three points and three steals.

Gilmer is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for LaFayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Gilmer will face off against Calhoun at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for LaFayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
