The Desert Mountain Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Sunrise Mountain likes a good challenge.
Even though American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, Desert Mountain still came out on top. Desert Mountain walked away with a 75-67 win over American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact Sunrise Mountain proved on Friday. They strolled past Mountain Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sunrise Mountain.
Jason Higgins was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Sunrise Mountain's points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Balian, who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Their wins bumped Desert Mountain to 4-1 and American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North to 5-3.
Desert Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sunrise Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 70-65 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Desert Mountain since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
