Burges has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Parkland Matadors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Burges focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Burges has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Hanks 51-28. Given Burges' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Hanks is ranked 643rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burges' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordyn Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Hernandez's 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Priscilla Diaz, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-10, which was the final score in Parkland's tilt against Andress on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Parkland has scored all season.
Burges is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Parkland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Everything came up roses for Burges against Parkland in their previous matchup back in February of 2015 as the team secured a 66-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burges since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
