The Jefferson Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Steinbrenner 87-11. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Steinbrenner is ranked 139th).
Damaria Pitcher and Jo Shonna Harris certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Pitcher scored four points, while Harris scored four points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Jefferson struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Steinbrenner racked up 26 assists.
Steinbrenner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Adams out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine assists, and nine steals. Adams also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Coble, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Jefferson bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Steinbrenner, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Jefferson is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Lennard at 8:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Lennard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Steinbrenner, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
