Softball Recap: Powell Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Powell waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Powell's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Hardin Valley Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

Coincidentally, Powell and Hardin Valley Academy will both be playing Alcoa the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Tornadoes at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
