Ysleta is 8-1 against Mountain View since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Ysleta Indians will host the Mountain View Lobos at 7:30 p.m. Ysleta will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Ysleta will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 36-point drubbing they dealt Clint on Tuesday. Ysleta took their game with ease, bagging a 70-34 win over Clint. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Lions are ranked 1568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Azaiah Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 15 of 32 en route to 41 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Ysleta's points. Another player making a difference was Martin Soria, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Ysleta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Mountain View unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Riverside by a score of 50-48.
Ysleta will need focus on slowing down Matthew Slosar, one of several Mountain View players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Slosar has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Gonzalez, who put up eight points in addition to eight boards and four steals.
Ysleta is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ysleta has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Ysleta didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory. Will Ysleta repeat their success, or does Mountain View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
