Meanwhile, South Summit came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against North Summit by a score of 7-4 on Friday.
Hayden Simons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaede Jacketta, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Theus Reed also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
South Summit's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for North Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
South Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. North Summit has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Summit, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will North Summit keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
North Summit came up short against South Summit in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 7-4. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
