Moriah extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 2-15. They came up short against the North Warren Central Cougars, falling 12-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-12 last Tuesday.
Gianna Vargo made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Kait Larmore also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for North Warren Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games.
On North Warren Central's side, Mya Higgins made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Higgins was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gianna Tucci and Alexis Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Tucci went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Smith a new career-high. R Brothers was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As of now, neither Moriah nor North Warren Central have any future games scheduled.
