A Season-Best Performance from Jason Hurtado Leads Douglas over Rio Rico
Jason Hurtado produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Douglas to the win on Friday. Hurtado rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (103.1). Those 200 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Rio Rico's probably not too fond of Hurtado given he always seems to get the better of them. When Hurtado last faced the Hawks back in October of 2023, he rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Espinoza Came Up Big in Amphitheater's 42-15 Win
Jacob Espinoza put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in September of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making five total tackles.
On the season, Espinoza has averaged 23.2 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 42.67 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 65.17 rushing yards.

Isaac Williams' Rushing Yards a New Career-High
On Friday, Amphitheater got the W thanks in part to Isaac Williams playing the best football he has all season. Williams rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).
On the year, Williams has run in those 2 touchdowns while averaging 25.6 rushing yards per game.

Mananne Abakar Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, Rincon/University had to settle for second even though Mananne Abakar put up the best numbers he has all season. Abakar picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
Rincon/University dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Abakar and Rincon/University will face off against Sahuarita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
