The Middletown South Eagles will be playing at home against the Shawnee Renegades at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Middletown South is ranked 37th, while Shawnee is ranked 43rd).
Last Friday, Middletown South was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 17-13 to Donovan Catholic. Middletown South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Shawnee had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Williamstown 42-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Shawnee, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Shawnee can attribute much of their success to Nick Rusinski, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Brett Lunberg, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Middletown South now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Shawnee, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
