There's no place like home for the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Ness City 54-37 on Friday. For Wheatland-Grinnell, this counts as revenge for the 38-31 defeat the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Karoline Schroeder continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Natalie Bixenman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists.
Ness City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Savannah Buller, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Tiana Smith, who scored 11 points.
Wheatland-Grinnell pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Ness City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Wheatland-Grinnell will face off against the Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weskan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Thunderhawks are ranked 153rd). As for Ness City, they will head out on the road to take on the Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully LaCrosse focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
