The Salmen Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Ouachita Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salmen is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Salmen stacked a third blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Loranger 48-21 on the road. With Salmen ahead 41-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Salmen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacobi Jefferson , who rushed for 158 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Kaileb Rayford was another key contributor, gaining 170 total yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Salmen's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Dwayne Hartley and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, West Ouachita took a serious blow against Alexandria on Friday, falling 49-7. While losing is never fun, West Ouachita can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Alexandria is ranked 31st).
Salmen has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Archbishop Hannan and 3-7 Franklinton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.2% over those games). As for West Ouachita, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
