The Canby Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wilsonville Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Canby's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
Canby scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts with points to spare, taking the game 93-77. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jack Brauckmiller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dallas Michel, who scored 22 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Wilsonville waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against La Salle by a score of 52-45. Given Wilsonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while La Salle is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canby is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Wilsonville, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Canby was taken down by Wilsonville 68-40 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Canby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
