With a playoff game on the line, the Pottsboro Cardinals rose to the challenge on Thursday. They managed a 34-28 victory over Jefferson. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Pottsboro was the better team in the second half.
Major Mcbride was his usual excellent self, rushing for 271 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Mcbride is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Cayden Humphrey was another key contributor, rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamran Williams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 197 yards while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Williams is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Pottsboro's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Pottsboro will head out on the road to face off against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grandview is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
