The Spooner Rails will challenge the Ladysmith Lumberjacks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spooner has seven straight victories, Ladysmith has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Spooner's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Shell Lake with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Rails have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Annalie Lindgren made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ava Thompson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Layla Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Spooner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ladysmith fell victim to St. Croix Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 22-0 to the Saints.
Ladysmith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Spooner, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.
Ladysmith's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Spooner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .426. It's a different story for Ladysmith, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Spooner's hitters?
Everything went Spooner's way against Ladysmith when the teams last played back in April, as Spooner made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Rails repeat their success, or do the Lumberjacks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
