Atlantic City has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Middle Township Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Atlantic City had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 75-70 W over the Blue Devils. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Atlantic City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Finks, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikel Jones, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Middle Township entered their tilt with St. Augustine Prep with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Middle Township took down St. Augustine Prep 53-37 on Saturday. Given Middle Township's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while St. Augustine Prep is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Atlantic City's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Middle Township, their victory bumped their record up to 23-2.
Atlantic City came up short against Middle Township in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Middle Township's Jamir McNeil, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
