Wheeler is 9-1 against Memphis since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wheeler Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Memphis Cyclones at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Wheeler is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Memphis in Texas (Wheeler is ranked 542nd, while Memphis is ranked 1311th).
Last Friday, Wheeler ended up a good deal behind Wellington and lost 58-42. Wheeler has struggled against Wellington recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Memphis' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Clarendon, falling 94-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Memphis has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Memphis had strong showings from Abel Villa, who scored 11 points along with two steals, and Braden Bond, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals. Villa has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.
Wheeler's record now sits at 15-5. Memphis' record now sits at 7-10.
Wheeler beat Memphis 57-45 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Wheeler have another victory up their sleeve, or will Memphis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
