Homestead is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Fort Wayne Snider is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will host the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Homestead had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fort Wayne Northrop on Friday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bruins a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won eight in a row.
Homestead got a great performance from Evan Anderson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Anderson a new career-high.

Fort Wayne Snider came out on top against Fort Wayne Wayne on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Generals.
Landen Fry made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Logan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Snavely got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Fort Wayne Snider has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Homestead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Snider struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
