The State College Little Lions will take on the Cedar Cliff Colts at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. State College is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
State College will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Mifflin County on Monday. The Little Lions were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Huskies. The Little Lions haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Mara Jade McShea, who fired off three triples, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Wells, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Cedar Cliff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-3 to Central Dauphin.
Cedar Cliff saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Billus, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Alaina Tarnoci also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Cedar Cliff's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for State College, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. State College hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cedar Cliff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
State College was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar Cliff in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Little Lions repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
