After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stockbridge, the Luella Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They blew past Lovett 65-33 on the road. Given Luella's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Lions are ranked 500th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miliani Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 24 points, 18 rebounds, and 12 steals. Smith is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Journyey Bryant was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Luella is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Lovett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luella won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Lovett, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
